It's a new beginning for Briarcliffe Softball. I am proud to be the head coach of a school which is looking to make waves in college sports as well as in academia.

We are endeavoring to create a standout program as we begin our "rebirth" as a four year college and exploratory membership in NCAA Division II. To that end we have hired outstanding coaches (Lisa Jusino and Julie Bolduc) and have recruited players from coast to coast as well as from our neighbors to the North.

The 2007 Briarcliffe Softball team has made major strides in developing a Division II program. Through our recruiting efforts we are putting together a solid program. The college was delighted to get California's Laura McTaggart to accept , a superb hitter with a team first attitude that the college can build with. Middle Island's Toni-Ann Puglissi was another player that will make a huge impact on the infield and offensively. Briarcliffe was ecstatic that Levittown's Michelle Bauerschmidt accepted and transferred over from Washington & Jefferson. Michelle is a great hitter and catcher who is athletic enough to play any position. From New Jersey we were able to get Junior College transfer Katie Hammer. She is an excellent catcher and hitter who brings a competitive fire that will make us a winner. Another New Jersey College transfer we were fortunate to get is Laura Carlson. She is another player with great attitude and desire. This combined with her athleticism gives us a player that will make the program stronger.

Our fall schedule has begun to take shape and we are playing against perennial ECC (formerly NYCAC) champions Adelphi University and Queens College as well as Division III powerhouse Ramapo College.
